For months now, rumors have been floating around about upgraded models of Apple’s MacBook Pros. Currently, the updated notebooks are expected to be thinner, and include the strip of capacitive touch keys beneath an OLED screen for function keys, and USB Type-C for faster data transfer and various other connectivity uses, including charging. Apart from these details, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman has now come up with few more details on the new range of MacBook Pro models. MacBook Pro models are expected to have a smaller footprint than existing models, and the trackpad is also slightly wider than current models. It will be offered with more powerful and efficient graphics processors for expert users such as video gamers, says Gurman’s report citing anonymous sources. Also, reaffirmed is Touch ID. This would be combined with the power button and the scanner will be ‘beside the new function key display.’ It’s expected that this will also allow Apple Pay to be used for online purchases from supporting websites. A source has also told Bloomberg that Apple has chosen AMD to supply an upgraded graphics option, suggesting that these laptops will house integrated graphics to start. It also said that Apple choose AMD’s new Polaris chips particularly to offer the slim design and power efficiency required for a MacBook Pro. Last but not the least, the report says that Apple has ‘considered bringing grey, gold, and silver colors to the new line’ but that it is ‘unclear’ whether or not it will do so. The new computers are said to already be ‘in advanced testing’ within Apple since earlier this year. However, the MacBook Pros aren’t likely to launch at an iPhone event due next month, confirming earlier reports that said that the laptops are scheduled to release in the fourth quarter of the year.
