Paint or WordPad could not be uninstalled in earlier versions of Windows 10 or Windows. By adding WordPad and Paint to the list of Optional Features in the upcoming 20H1 update for Windows 10, Build 18963, users can now uninstall these default apps if they do not wish to use these services. Previously, Microsoft had added Windows Media Player as one of its first apps to the list of Optional Features for Windows 10. For those unaware, Optional Features and tools can always be enabled or disabled through Settings in Windows 10. To uninstall an optional feature, you need to go to Settings > Apps > Optional Features. Once you click on the Optional Features, you will be presented with a list of optional features that you can choose to uninstall from your PC. Click on the optional feature, it will display an “Uninstall” option. After clicking on the uninstall button, the chosen app will be uninstalled from your PC. However, if you wish to reenable the uninstalled app on your PC, you need to go to the Optional Features page by opening the same settings again and then click on ‘Add a Feature’ button. It is worth noting that in order to reinstall the optional features, it is necessary to do a system reboot. Windows 10 20H1 is expected to arrive in the first half of next year.
