Hackers are increasingly operating as regular businesses with many advertising themselves as “honest, trustworthy and professional,” and providing a variety of illicit goods and services on the cheap, says the cybersecurity company’s third annual Underground Hacker Markets Report. According to the Dell report, released on 5 April, the information was gathered by two intelligence analysts from the company’s CISO INTEL Team, who tracked hackers on a number of underground hacker forums and marketplaces scattered across the globe....

A group of hackers going by the handle of Spain Squad claimed they have found a way to seize inactive and suspended Twitter accounts. Spain Squad says that it is now selling such banned and suspended Twitter accounts on its social network. “Spain Squad” claims they have gained control of a number including @Hell, @Hitler, @Nazi, @ak47, and @1337 with the help of their hack. While Spain Squad’s hack may be questionable it was found that previously suspended @Hitler, @Hell, and @LizardSquad owned by the infamous band of hackers who brought Sony PlayStation and Microsoft Xbox down to its knees in midst of a Christmas season in 2014, have somehow been activated....

While the Google Play Services can be side-loaded to Windows 10 Mobile’s Android environment, it is non functional due to insufficient permission. But, some users want the entire Google Play Store in their Windows 10 Mobile device, or at least show that it is possible. A user could be able to run any and every Android app by having the Google Play Store inside of a Windows 10 Mobile device....

Security researchers have been collaborating with the law enforcement agencies for this operation. Researchers from Proofpoint said that the hackers sent out waves of up to 350,000 Dridex-laced spam emails every day, while, researchers at Dell SecureWorks started working on a project to disrupt the monstrous botnet. It teamed up with law enforcement, and received legal permission to hack the botnet, according to the company. In United Kingdom, Mike Hulett from the NCA said: “This is a particularly virulent form of malware and we have been working with our international law enforcement partners, as well as key partners from industry, to mitigate the damage it causes....

Similarly, earlier this week, Phantom Squad said it was planning to take down Xbox Live and PlayStation Network with outages over Christmas. Further, it took responsibility for an outage that hit the Xbox Live network and caused connection problems for gamers on December 17. However, it appears that Xbox Live and PSN may not be the only gaming services to be hit over the festive season. While acknowledging the publicity that such attacks bring in for hacking groups, he claimed that the ultimate aim is to force companies like Microsoft, Sony and Valve to do more to stop them....

It has managed to create a big name for itself by creating some of the top malware which allows governments to spy on its citizens. The iPhone hack with a text message is just a small example of the expertise NSO Group has in cyber security matters. “NSO Group are a highly valued surveillance company purporting to sell some of the most advanced spyware on the market,” Edin Omanovic, a research officer at Privacy International, told Motherboard in an email....

The researchers combined data from embedded sensors in wearable technologies such as smartwatches and fitness trackers. The algorithm called “Backward PIN-sequence Inference Algorithm” developed by the research team could crack private PINs and passwords with 80 percent accuracy on the first try and more than 90 percent accuracy after three efforts. Saumitra Mukherjee, professor of Geology and Remote Sensing at School of Environmental sciences at Jawaharlal Nehru University along with his student Priyadarshini Singh analyzed the images of moon’s surface which indicated that there could be tectonic plates present on moon too. The images used for analysis were taken by the Narrow Angle Camera and Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter camera of Chandrayaan-1. Professor Mukherjee said that the data had been collected from the south polar region of the moon and there were many evidences found which established the fact that tectonic activity does occur on the lunar surface; which is more or less similar to those found on Earth....
